Pink Jade Bonsai – Description & Care Guide | Alans Garden

🌸 Description

The Pink Jade Bonsai (Crassula ovata ‘Pink Beauty’ / ‘Pink Jade’) is a stunning succulent bonsai known for its soft pink-tinted edges, glossy oval leaves, and compact branching form. Its fleshy leaves store water, making it highly drought-tolerant and easy to maintain.
During cooler months, the plant develops deeper pink coloration, and mature bonsai may produce tiny star-shaped pinkish-white flowers, adding extra charm.

This variety is perfect for indoor décor, table-top bonsai displays, and low-maintenance plant lovers. With proper pruning, it forms a miniature tree-like structure with thick, gnarled stems that look beautiful year-round.

🌱 Pink Jade Bonsai Care

1. Light

  • Prefers bright indirect light to full sunlight.
  • 4–6 hours of sunlight helps maintain pink edges on leaves.
  • If kept indoors, place near east or south-facing windows.

2. Watering

  • Water only when the soil is completely dry.
  • Overwatering causes root rot, so ensure proper drainage.
  • In winter, reduce watering even more—about once every 10–14 days.

3. Soil

  • Use a fast-draining cactus/succulent mix.
  • Ideal mix: 50% succulent soil + 30% perlite + 20% coarse sand.

4. Humidity

  • Prefers dry air.
  • Avoid misting the plant.

5. Temperature

  • Thrives in 18–32°C.
  • Protect from temperatures below 10°C.

6. Fertilizer

  • Feed lightly once every 30–45 days during the growing season (Feb–Oct).
  • Use a diluted succulent fertilizer or a balanced NPK (2-2-2).

7. Pruning

  • Regular pruning helps maintain the bonsai shape.
  • Remove leggy or weak growth.
  • Best time to prune: early spring or post-monsoon.

8. Repotting

  • Repot every 2–3 years during spring.
  • Use a wider, shallow bonsai pot with good drainage holes.

9. Pests & Problems

  • Generally pest-free, but occasionally susceptible to:
    • Mealybugs
    • Aphids
    • Fungal rot from overwatering
  • Treat pests with neem oil spray.

🌿 Benefits of Pink Jade Bonsai

  • Low-maintenance and beginner-friendly
  • Adds beauty to indoor spaces
